I had assumed that the Earth, the spirit of the Earth, noticed exceptions — those who wantonly damage it and those who do not.
But the Earth is wise.
It has given itself into the keeping of all, and all are therefore accountable.”
April 22nd is Earth Day.
This is a great week to remind ourselves to get back to and to give back to nature.
In addition to becoming involved in the observations, celebrations, and politics of climate change and other ventures to protect the earth, we should also learn, for many of us, re-learn, to immerse ourselves in the beauty and the lessons provided by Nature. Making time to spend in our natural environments can be quite therapeutic.
When we feel like we have very little steam left in our engines, we can head out into nature and lose ourselves in it.
There is something healing and renewing about breathing in the fresh air. Inhaling the scents of the elements of nature connects us to our origin. It also serves to remind us that, like nature, we are naturally strong, capable, and resilient.
Outdoor time allows us to heal difficult relationships with family and friends. The fresh air gives us a clear mind and helps shift our perspective.
The same holds true when we are searching for new business opportunities. We are more innovative when we seek inspiration from outside of ourselves, including in nature. We become more creative by observing the intricate patterns on leaves and shells, for instance, as well as the precision with which nature continually nourishes itself daily. Strolling through nearby forests teaches me ways in which I can live well with others.
When we observe plants sharing the same resources every day, we can see that we should be more capable of living in harmony with our colleagues and neighbors. There are enough resources and opportunities to make each person a success story if we willingly share them with others.
Today, the renewal of our minds and bodies is possible when we make time for nature in our lives.
Be thankful for the power of healing and clarity that comes from spending time in our natural environment.
Life can be richer when we take cues from dwellers in the natural world all around us.
Things to think about and/ or journal about this week:
1. How much time do I dedicate to spending time in nature?
2. What are some of the answers I find when I take some time to walk amongst nature?
3. How am I able to bring the natural influence into my personal space?

Until next time… Happy Earth Day!
