Knowing yourself
is the beginning of all wisdom.
Choose Yourself
Would it not be delicious
To walk the earth
Free-er, simpler, differently
Not weighed down
By the peculiar appetites
Of others
Often impenetrable
And unconstrained
As if we’re constantly in training
But it is a choice we make
Or do not make
Consciously or unconsciously
To remain hitched
To old ways of thinking, acting
Walking ancient paths
Allowing others to hold us
By leash to their whims
While neglecting our own desires
Choosing to fly free
A simple no
A single step over lines drawn
Push back against the norm
Allow the wind
To unfurl your wings
Live your life
You only have one
Probably
In any case
Change is the choice
We make, or we do not
