Who doesn’t really want to be more successful? Whatever you have already accomplished, there will always another interesting mountain to climb. If you are looking for more achievement, you can improve your life dramatically with a few simple tweaks. Although these suggestions are pretty straightforward, most of them will require some constant attention for a little while until they become habits or part of your natural behavior. Once they become automatic, though, you will be thrilled with your progress.
Keep in mind also, that success means different things to different people at different points in their lives…
Pick better friends
It is said that we are a culmination of our 5 closest friends. Take a look around and see who you spend most of your time with. And before you get in an uproar, I am not recommending that you dump all of your friends for new ones, just to get ahead. But I am suggesting that you be honest with yourself. Are the people you hang with going anywhere? Are they trying to improve their lot in life?
Try hanging out with more with successful individuals. You will frequently find that you achieve about as much as the people with whom you spend the most time. If you want to be more successful or reach a different kind of success, link up as often as you can with people who are more successful than you.
Why?
You will find that you will be exposed to a different way of thinking and interacting with the world around you. Very successful people look at many things differently than those who are less successful. Integrating some of these ideas and thought patterns into your own thinking will likely bring you more successes of your own.
You will also encounter new and different opportunities. When you connect with people who are already where you want to go you will likely get to connect with members of their peer group. These people will probably be successful in the areas of your interest as well.
Get a new attitude
Adjust your attitude. Successful people usually have a positive attitude and outlook. This allows them to move forward aggressively. This is, however not the same as acting foolishly.
Minor challenges shouldn’t bog you down because you believe that everything will work out in the end. You must learn to keep the bigger picture in mind, so minor challenges remain just that… minor.
Everything that you want to do and be starts internally. Getting to the point where you can see outside changes in your life will take time.
Get organized and get focused
Get rid of the clutter in your life, home and head. Begin to get more organized and improve your focus. How? Here is one method that works well for me. Before you go to bed each night, make a list with all the things you want to accomplish the next day. Doing this at night gives your brain a chance to work on things in your sleep. Also, you will feel much better when you are able to start the day with a clear set of objectives instead of spending time trying to figure out what to do, or what to do next.
Even though I have a smart-phone, I write these things out long-hand. This makes a better connection with my conscious and subconscious mind. I have also found that I often awaken with the answer to a thorny question or issue. So, I would additionally recommend that you keep a pen and paper next to your bedside. Write the ideas out as soon as you awaken, before the noisy world comes crashing in.
Get some goals or make a plan
Review you goals, and if necessary, make new ones. Your mind is amazingly good at finding solutions. You can help the process by doing a good job of outlining and prioritizing your objectives. The simplest way to do this is to write down your goal and include a deadline. This can be an important step in developing your life plan. Now your mind can focus. It knows clearly what to work on and when to have it accomplished.
Read over your goals at least twice a day to provide additional mental emphasis that they are important to you. We all know how easy it is to get sidetracked by 50 other things and forget all about your goals and plans.
These 4 simple tweaks to what you are already doing can bring you great power, if you use them to your advantage. You know, being successful is really not any more challenging than being unsuccessful. Both require specific actions and attitudes that are applied consistently over a period of time. Make some changes today and give yourself the gift of the success that you desire.
