Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things
which escape those who dream only by night.
Everyone has hopes and dreams. But not everyone’s hopes and dreams come true, or even have some significant progress made on them. Dreams and goals are not the same thing.
Dreams, wishes, desires, etc are those things hoped for. They do not come true all by themselves. They have to be turned into goals. And, goals require specific, actionable, doable steps to bring them to fruition, along with timetables for getting the right things done. You cannot just randomly cast about and expect to end up where you want to be. You must be intentional.
So where do you begin?
Sit down with pen and paper, and write out what you want to accomplish. Write out everything in every arena of your life. Even if it sounds stupid or far-fetched, jot it down. Now choose two areas of your life where you want to, and you know that you are fully capable of making some change or improvement. Maybe something for your career and some other thing at home.
Now here is the really tough part for most of us. Be completely and brutally honest with yourself about how these areas of your life look to you right now. Then be just as honest about why you are not thrilled with its current state. What is wrong with it as you view it today.
Where is it that you want to wind up after you have made you the appropriate changes? Now, chart a specific course to get from here to there. Do you need to take a class, read some books, get out into the woods, plan a vacation with your loved one? Write out the specific steps, and write down the date by which you would like to have it done. Now, the second toughie. Ask yourself:
What ONE thing can I do today that will move me a step closer to my goal?
What ONE step can I plan to make tomorrow that will get me closer to where I want to be?
And, that is all you have to do today- one thing that counts.
Then do one thing tomorrow, and so on.
To your continued success!!
