Musings and affirmations: I view the experiences of others as valuable life lessons 2-10-13

life lesson

People tend to complicate their own lives,

as if living weren’t already complicated enough.

Carlos Ruiz Zafón

Affirmation: I view the experiences of others as life lessons for myself.

I always consider the experiences of others to be opportunities to learn and to carve out a path for my life.

One of the advantages of co-existing on this Earth is learning from each other. Every face I look into tells a story that can have a profound impact on my life.

Every day is a learning experience for me.

I am conscious of the person I am, who I wish to become, and the life that I want to lead. And, I use the experiences of others to help me gauge the success of my own efforts to achieve it. I meld the lessons to create my book of life.

When I observe the happiness in others, I take a moment to try to analyze the source of that happiness. I give thought to my own situation and try to determine if I am focusing on positivity in my own relationships. I use some of the lesson that I learn from observing the experiences of other to help me secure my emotional happiness.

I also observe negative situations between people and try to assess what causes the breakdown in communication. I use these opportunities to introspectively assess my behaviors and actions to determine whether I play a part in fueling the negative relationships in my life.

Today, I accept my co-existence with others is a chance to make positive changes.

I recognize the unconscious and subconscious input of others to making me a better human being and embrace the life lessons of their experiences.

Homework/ Self-Reflective Questions/ Journal Prompts:

1. How easily do I adapt to changes based on my observation of external situations?

2. Do I readily share the lessons learned with the people I love?

3. How could I more advantageously use the experiences of others to learn life lessons?

Thoughts?

Here is to an awesome week!!!

I usually can adapt quite well in situations, but I know I get frustrated when others cannot… this is especially true with my own kids… now I just have to figure out how best to get through this!

Thanks for reminding me of the importance of others in our lives. I learn how to live by watching what they do, and I learn how not to live. There are mirrors everywhere — I do my best to see and adapt, and to avoid getting trapped in those mirrored halls in which relating crumbles.

Thank you Blair. Yes, we learn much by observing others, much about relationships, how to act (or not act), about other people and a great deal about ourselves. And, as you have said, we learn a lot by mirroring others, but we must always remember tyo be true to ourselves.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment.

I liked this article. I am at a point in my life where I understand I can learn from others and I do not have to re-invent the wheel in order to roll. Thanks for sharing this idea in an enjoyable manner.

Great point Janeane. We don’t have to reinvent every wheel, we just need to pay more attention.
